Case Study: Mindful Bee Football Adventures

Building emotionally resilient Footballers through Storytelling

The Insight

Grassroots football is about more than goals, kits, and cones — it’s about character, confidence, and coping with emotions. Yet emotional development in young players is often overlooked in favour of technical skill.

Mindful Bee Football Adventures was born from a shared belief between Bee Herd and Aylesford Football Club: to raise great players, we must first nurture great humans.

The Story Behind The Story

Bee, founder of Mindful Bee and a grassroots football manager herself, witnessed the emotional rollercoaster of youth football first-hand — from the joy of victory to the sting of being benched. After working with over 450 youth players and speaking with parents and coaches, she realised the missing ingredient wasn’t another drill — it was emotional support. Together with Aylesford FC, Mindful Bee created a gentle, story-based tool designed to help children navigate feelings on and off the pitch, encouraging calm, reflection, and empathy through relatable match-day moments.
